本展は、アジアにおける翻訳の系譜について考える出発点として、20世紀初頭の神保町の歴史背景に注目いたします。
また「翻訳」を方法、行為、そして再構築という3つの観点から捉え、神保町の歴史文化を辿るアーカイブと、それに応答する現代美術作家の制作を紹介してまいります。
“Translation in the Expanded Field” explores translation as method, action, and reimagination across languages, media, and time. This exhibition presents archival materials and contemporary artworks that invite you to Jimbocho’s layered history shaped by people who engaged in translation—through friction, negotiation, and experimentation.
《神保町译闻录》从“翻译作为方法”、“翻译作为行动”与“翻译作为重新想象”三个维度，探讨翻译在不同语言、媒介及时间中的展现方式。本次展览通过档案材料和当代艺术作品，呈现神保町层层堆叠的历史，这段历史由无数在此以各种方式践行翻译的人们所构成，充满碰撞、谈判与实验。
